Batchwood Hall Bowls Club Open Days 2024

Batchwood Hall Bowls Club held its Opening Day on Saturday 13th April in beautiful weather to start the outdooor bowling season of 2024, something we have been looking forward to since last season closed!   We are also preparing to welcome newcomers into the club for  'taster' sessions on our Open Days.

The OPEN DAYS for the Public will be held on: Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st April and also Sunday 19th May, between 2pm and 5pm on all days.  The Open Days are an invitation to members of the public to try out and, hopefully, embrace what a great game bowls is. It is a perfect opportunity to try a game that gives you access to fresh air and gentle exercise and which embraces all ages and all abilities. You can experience the fun and skill of bowling on freshly cut grass; something that has been inbred in our nation for hundreds of years!

We want you to enjoy playing the game, but to do that certain basic information needs to be shared with new bowlers, i.e. the fundamentals!   Every new member is encouraged to attend a short coaching course. I am one of the coaches at Batchwood Hall and have coached 7-18 year olds, freshly retired couples, middle aged competitive sports persons, and worked with disabled individuals.  All Coaching sessions will follow a similar pattern, offering an introduction to the equipment and terms used when playing the game, with the opportunity to play a short introductory game. This is followed up with a club day or evening which is known as a Roll-Up where new and experience players come together for a sociable time and a chance to develop their game.

Also, throughout the country many clubs are participating in Bowls England’s ‘Big Weekend’, a national initiative to make the game more attractive to a wider audience.  Clubs are opening their doors to the public during 24 - 27th May and Batchwood Hall will be open on Friday 24th May.

We look forward to welcoming you to the green on one of our Open Days.  All you need is flat shoes.  Please contact us if you would like any further information.
