BATCHWOOD HALL BOWLING CLUB – PRESS REPORT 10th August 2026

Batchwood Bowling Club members have done exceptionally well in the St Albans & District Men’s Bowling Association competitions this year. Two teams are still in the 2-wood triples competition, one pairs team and also a member in the Officer’s Singles have all made it to the semi-finals.

The Batchwood team of Eddie Clark, Mark Trembling and Skip Dave Richardson played their District 2-wood triples competition against Andy Parsonage, Alan Harman and Grant Gray of Hatfield Bowls Club. Dave’s team won 21-12 with an end to spare. They are now in the semi-final and will join another Batchwood team – luckily they will not be playing each other.

Mark Trembling and Dave Richardson played Tony Strickland and Keith James of Welwyn Garden City Bowls club in the Men’s District Pairs competition. Dave won 30 – 6 with two ends to spare. They also proceed to the semi-final.

The Ladies played North Mymms Club away in a 2-rink friendly triples match. Batchwood won on both rinks and win the match 43 – 23.

Batchwood Ladies played a District Triples League against Harperbury. The Home team of Jackie Kenealy, Sandra Clark & skip Sue Swain won 17 – 7, the away team lost 9 – 17. Batchwood winning overall by two shots. Batchwood gain 4 league points to 2.

The Men played their District League against Shire Park Club this week. The Home team of John Bell, Eddie Clark and John Turkentine won 22 – 10, the away team of Gary Costen, Joshua David and Mark Trembling won 34 – 8. Batchwood won overall with 38 shots.

Batchwood are currently in 1st place in the Friday District Triples League (2 rinks). They have two matches left to play against Townsend (in 4th place) and Harperbury (in 3rd place). Batchwood has 50+ shots in their favour, Townsend is level on shots, Harperbury has +17. It will be interesting to see if Batchwood can hold onto their first place.

At the weekend Batchwood played St Albans away in the Men’s District League (3 rinks). Batchwood won two rinks to St Albans one rink. Top rink was John Bell, Eddy Thackeray, John Turkentine and Skip Brian Parkes. Batchwood gain 60 points St Albans 20.
