Batchwood Hall Bowling Club – Press Report 16th June 2025
Batchwood Hall Bowling Club played a match against the London Welsh. The London Welsh Association welcomes bowlers born in Wales, of Welsh descent, or with a Welsh Affiliation.
It was played on a wonderful sunny afternoon, with a welcome gentle breeze. It was a friendly game with Batchwood achieving a win of 63 – 53. Top rink was Joyce Hopkinson, Kate Horner & skip John Turkentine with a score of 19 – 9. A meal was served in the clubhouse after the game rounding off a most enjoyable afternoon.
In the 4th round of the County Pairs competition Dave Richardson & Mark Trembling played Nick Muir and John Osborn away at Harpenden. It was a very close game throughout; on the penultimate end they were level at 14-all. The Batchwood pair scored 3 shots on the last end claiming a win of 17-14.
The Batchwood ladies played their County league at home against Potters Bar. The team was Joyce Hopkinson, Kate Horner, Brenda Bennitt & Jackie Bell. Batchwood won 16 – 11.
National Tony Allcock Competition – Area quarter final
Batchwood played in the area quarterfinals of the National Tony Allcock competition against Harpenden A team. Two teams played with two men & two ladies on each team. The team of Sue Swain, Lesley Tutt, Eddy Clark & Dave Gauthier won 19 – 15. The other team of Mark Trembling, Sandra Clark, Jackie Bell & Dave Richardson won 25 – 13. The Area Semi-final will be against Harpenden B team at Harpenden on 29th June.
