Batchwood played away at Hemel Hempstead winning on all 3 rinks. Batchwood 60, Hemel 35. Top rink 21 – 8 Val Nash, Brian Roberts, Paul Flower & Skip Steve Lea.
Batchwood Men & Ladies played in the St Albans & District League at Welwyn Garden City. The men won on 2 rinks and drew the third. The men won 70 points, WGC 10 points. The Ladies won 1 rink and lost 1 rink. WGC won 20 points to Batchwood’s 10 points.
At the weekend Batchwood played in the Tony Allcock National Competition away at Potters Bar. Each club side consists of 2 rinks of four players (two men and two women) per rink and they play 18 ends.
It was a sunny evening, squinting into the sun for the last few ends as it sunk behind the hedge. Batchwood’s team of Sue Swain. Lesley Tutt, Eddie Clark and Dave Gauthier started with a good lead. Potters Bar caught up at 12 all but they didn’t win another end and lost to Batchwood 21 – 12. The second rink were fairly matched most of the way. Batchwood were one shot ahead after 17 ends, they won one on the last end making it 16 -14. The team was Sandra Clark, Mark Trembling, Jackie Bell and skip Dave Richardson.
