Dave Gauthier played Colin Malone of Potters Bar in the Men’s District singles at Batchwood BC. Dave won 21 – 12 but the score did not truly reflect the game – there were some very tight heads. Dave is now through to the quarter-finals.

In the St Albans & Ladies Championship singles Jenny Gauthier played away at Townsend Bowls Club. Jenny won 17 – 21.

Batchwood Hall Bowls Club had both Men & Ladies represented in the semi-finals of the County 4’s competition. A tremendous achievement.

The Men’s team of Eddie Clark, Dave Gauthier, Mark Trembling and Dave Richardson were up against a very strong team from Herts, skipped by Martin Coles. The men conceded on the 16th end with a score of 16 - 27.

The Ladies team played a team from Welwyn & District skipped by Val Challacombe. The Batchwood team was Brenda Bennitt, Joyce Hopkinson, Jenny Gauthier and Jackie Bell. It was an exciting game throughout, and rather nail-biting at times! On the penultimate end Batchwood were one shot ahead. On the final end Welwyn & District were holding one shot with the skips two bowls left to play (meaning the game would be tied with an extra end to be the decider if no bowls were moved). However, Batchwood’s skip, Jackie Bell delivered her last bowl with incredibly accuracy moving Welwyn’s holding bowl away, leaving Batchwood then holding two shots. Batchwood eventually won by three shots 17 – 14. They will play in the final at Bishops Stortford Bowls Club.

Batchwood Men played in the quarter-final of the Jones Cup against North Mymms. The home team of Ian Teo, Jerry McCauliffe, John Bell & Dave Gauthier won by 3 shots. The away team of Eddie Clark, John Turkentine, Mark Trembling & Dave Richardson won by 19 shots. Batchwood are now through to the semi-final. Well done!
