BATCHWOOD HALL BOWLING CLUB – PRESS REPORT 3rd August 2026

Batchwood Bowls Club had a very successful week on the green. They played two mixed triples matches, one Ladies District league game and one Men’s District league game winning on all four occasions.

Batchwood played a mixed 4 rink triples match during the week on the fourth Heatwave of the summer. It is normal to play 18 ends in a triples match but, because of the heat, this was reduced to sixteen ends...with a break for ice lollies in the middle!

Batchwood won the match 56 – 50; the top rink was Jackie Kenealy, Don Smith and Brenda Bennitt 17 – 10.

Batchwood ladies played their District triples league against Townsend. One team at home the other away. The home team lost 11 – 18; the away team of Jackie Bell, Joyce Hopkinson and Skip Sue Swain won 27 – 5.

The Men’s District triples league was against North Mymms. The Batchwood home team of Eddie Clark, Eddy Thackeray, and skip Dave Richardson won by 3 shots; the away team of John Bell, Jon Quick and Skip Mark Trembling also won by 3 shots.

Batchwood played Shire Park Club at home in a 4-rink mixed triples match at the weekend. Batchwood won by 20 shots 66 – 46. Top rink was Brian Roberts, Joyce Hopkinson and skip Eddy Thackeray.
